Rigdzin Yugyal Dorjee Serdup, a rising young talent from Sikkim, has now taken a thoughtful step toward wildlife protection by joining the “My Child from Wild” initiative started by the Himalayan Zoological Park in Bulbuley. This heartwarming move adds to his growing list of achievements in acting, sports, arts and now wildlife conservation.

The “My Child from Wild” program, officially launched in June in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, allows individuals, schools, and organizations to adopt animals at the zoo. Through this program, sponsors contribute to the care of animals—including food, medical treatment, and general upkeep—while also building a personal connection with Himalayan wildlife.

Rigdzin, a Grade 10 student at Taktse International School, is among the youngest participants in the initiative. Known for his roles in Amazon Prime’s web series The Last Hour and the internationally recognized short film Opang, Rigdzin has impressed many with his natural acting talent. Now, by joining this meaningful cause, he’s also sending out a strong message about the importance of caring for animals and nature.

Speaking about his decision, Rigdzin shared that he has always loved animals and felt that joining this program was a small but important way to give back. “Animals can’t speak for themselves, so we need to look out for them. I’m happy I can be part of something that helps,” he said.

Apart from acting, Rigdzin is also active in sports and arts. He has represented Sikkim in the Under-16 National Basketball Games in 2023 and 2024. He’s also a poet and musician, with his work published in the school magazine and regular performances at school events. His teachers describe him as focused, kind-hearted, and always eager to learn new things.
