Yangang’s Abin Rai crowned Sarathi Idol 2025 champion, bags Rs 5 lakh prize

Abin Rai from Yangang emerged as the winner of Sarathi Idol 2025, securing the coveted title along with a cash prize of ₹5 lakh for his remarkable vocal performance and musical brilliance.

The grand finale, held on Sunday at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, brought together the top finalists of the first season of Sarathi Idol, a musical competition exclusively curated for members of the local taxi driver community. Organised by the Central Joint Action Committee of All Local Taxi, Gangtok, the event aimed to recognise and uplift hidden talents among drivers while promoting unity through music.

The finale saw stiff competition among the top seven participants. Anand Gurung was declared the 1st Runner-Up, while Passang Dawa Tamang secured the position of 2nd Runner-Up, both earning immense applause and admiration from the audience and jury alike for their musical prowess.

In his address, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the initiative, applauding the organisers and participants for creating a platform that reflects both the cultural spirit and talent of the working class.

Also present at the event were key dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, and ministers Raju Basnett, Sonam Lama, Puran Tamang, Arun Upreti, among others. The presence of high-ranking officials underscored the significance of the event and its impact on community bonding.
