Yangang in South Sikkim is set to become the center of a major tourism and youth empowerment initiative as it prepares to host the International Youth Conclave for Tourism Development from April 12 to April 14, 2025. Organized by the Youth Tourism Development Committee (YTDC), the event aims to promote self-reliance among young individuals by providing skill development, digital marketing training, and culinary experiences.
The conclave holds special significance as it coincides with Sikkim’s celebration of 50 years of statehood. A total of 176 delegates from 28 states, three union territories, and four different countries will gather in Yangang to discuss sustainable tourism and explore ways to strengthen the tourism sector. The event will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, learning from experts, and collaborating on initiatives that benefit local communities and the broader tourism industry.
YTDC has been actively working to promote homestays, traditional cuisine, and cultural heritage as key pillars of sustainable tourism. By integrating these elements into the conclave, the organization hopes to encourage young entrepreneurs to see tourism as a viable and rewarding career path. The event will feature workshops, panel discussions, and cultural showcases that highlight Sikkim’s unique traditions while equipping participants with the necessary knowledge to thrive in the tourism sector.
