Workshop on monitoring Mammalian Fauna begins in Gyalshing to boost wildlife conservation efforts

A two-day workshop on the monitoring of mammalian fauna of the Himalayas was inaugurated today at the Zilla Assembly Hall in Gyalshing. The event, which focuses on the conservation of threatened species, is being jointly organised by the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) and the Forest and Environment Department, Government of Sikkim.

The workshop is being conducted under the theme “Conservation of Threatened Mammalian Fauna of the Indian Himalayan Region Through Scaling Up Long Term Monitoring, Securing Corridors, and Capacity Building.” It is supported and funded by the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), a key initiative aimed at promoting sustainable development in the Himalayan ecosystem.
