Officials from Rangpo Nagar Panchayat during a routine inspection at Oasis Café along NH10 found a group of visitors stepping on a local monument situated within the café premises. The act, deemed disrespectful and in violation of established civic norms, prompted immediate intervention by the authorities.
The visitors were found carelessly disregarding the cultural and historical value of the monument, drawing swift response from municipal officials. On-site Information, Education, and Counselling (IEC) sessions were conducted to inform the individuals about the significance of respecting public monuments and the importance of adhering to community “Do’s and Don’ts,” especially at heritage locations.
Officials also engaged with the Guruji (driver/guide) of the vehicle transporting the group. He was urged to take a more proactive role in guiding passengers about expected conduct when visiting such culturally sensitive locations.
Following the counseling, the visitors were fined for violating local regulations concerning the protection of public and heritage property. The penalty served not only as a deterrent but also reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in preserving cultural sites.
