As 2025 begins, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) fans have reason to celebrate with the confirmation that GTA 6 is just around the corner. Rockstar Games, the developer behind the iconic franchise, has teased players with a glimpse of the highly anticipated game, including a return to Vice City. While the excitement builds, here’s everything we know about GTA 6 so far.
The wait for a definitive release date has been long, but Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 is slated for launch in the fall of 2025. However, Rockstar North’s technical director, Obbe Vermeij, mentioned in September 2024 that the final confirmation on whether the game will hit its target launch window won’t come until around May 2025.
As expected, GTA 6 will first be available on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 Pro. Fans of PC gaming may have to wait until 2027 for the PC version, with developers hinting that the game may require high-end hardware to run smoothly at 60fps on the highest settings.
Set in the neon-lit streets of Vice City, the fictional version of Miami, GTA 6 will feature a modern-day setting, unlike the 1986 backdrop of GTA: Vice City. The map, set in the state of Leonida, will not only cover Vice City but may also extend to the Florida Everglades. While familiar locations like Starfish Island are expected, iconic places like the Ocean View Hotel and Malinu Club may not make an appearance.
The game introduces two protagonists, with Lucia, the female lead, being showcased in the trailer. She seems to have a Bonnie and Clyde-style dynamic with her male counterpart, as they embark on criminal escapades together.
Rumors suggest that Rockstar Games may release a second trailer for GTA 6 soon. While official details remain scarce, the excitement around the game continues to build, and a new trailer could offer more insight into the gameplay and storyline before its expected release.
