Uttar Pradesh government extends grand invitation to Sikkim for Mahakumbh 2025

In an effort to extend the grandeur of the Mahakumbh 2025 to all regions of India, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is making a concerted effort to invite people from across the nation. Today, a grand roadshow was held in Gangtok, Sikkim, where Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Shri Om Prakash Rajbhar and Minister of State (Independent Charge), JPS Rathore, extended an official invitation to Sikkim’s Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Governor Om Prakash Mathur to attend the highly anticipated Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025.

Scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, the Mahakumbh will be a global celebration of India's spiritual and cultural heritage. The event, which occurs once every 12 years, will be held at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Om Prakash Rajbhar emphasized that the event’s scale would be unparalleled, with an estimated 450 million pilgrims, saints, sadhus, and tourists expected to attend. "This is a celebration of India's unity in diversity, an embodiment of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat' – One India, Great India," he said.

The roadshow in Sikkim also marked the presentation of a formal invitation letter from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Sikkim’s leaders. During the press conference, Shri Rajbhar highlighted the government’s commitment to making the Mahakumbh a global event with world-class facilities. The Mahakumbh, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, will feature state-of-the-art healthcare services, including specialized hospitals and emergency services.

“We are ensuring that the Mahakumbh is clean, safe, and environmentally friendly. We are committed to making it a single-use plastic-free event,” said Shri Rajbhar. “Over three lakh plants have been planted across Prayagraj to make the event greener, and special arrangements have been made for healthcare, including 291 doctors and specialists on-site.”

Moreover, the event will be a digital marvel. The Uttar Pradesh government has planned a digital infrastructure that includes a dedicated app, an AI-powered chatbot, smart parking, and real-time monitoring of facilities through drones and CCTV. Shri JPS Rathore, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Cooperative, spoke about the advanced technology that will track pilgrims' headcount using RFID wristbands, mobile app tracking, and cameras, ensuring smooth crowd management.

Shri Rathore stated the Mahakumbh's significance as a proclamation of India's unity and said , "The Kumbh is not just a ritualistic gathering but a powerful symbol of social harmony, bringing together people from all walks of life." He further added that the Uttar Pradesh government is extending invitations to all states and countries to join in the celebration of this historic event.

With extensive preparations underway, including the development of 35 permanent ghats and nine new ones, the Mahakumbh 2025 promises to be a transformative experience for devotees and tourists alike. The Uttar Pradesh government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that this event will be a resounding success, setting new benchmarks for spiritual gatherings worldwide.

The Sikkim roadshow was attended by prominent personalities, including journalists, travel operators, bloggers, and industrialists, all of whom were invited to be part of this sacred pilgrimage to Prayagraj.
