A two-day residential training program on the National Programme for Health Care of Elderly (NPHCE) and the National Programme for Palliative Care (NPPC) was successfully conducted at District Hospital Gyalshing on March 6 and 7, 2025. The training aimed to equip Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons, and Health Care Workers from Gyalshing and Soreng districts with essential knowledge and skills in elderly and palliative care.

The program featured expert sessions by medical specialists, including a Psychiatrist, ENT Specialist, Ophthalmologist, Physiotherapist, Nursing Officer, and District Nodal Officers (DNOs) for CPHC, NPHCE, and NPPC. They covered crucial topics such as geriatric care, pain management, rehabilitation, nursing roles in elderly and end-of-life care, and community-based healthcare. The training emphasized early diagnosis, multidisciplinary management, and patient-centered approaches to ensure holistic care.

Interactive discussions and case-based learning allowed participants to gain practical insights into managing elderly and terminally ill patients with compassion and efficiency. The initiative aimed to strengthen healthcare services at both primary and secondary levels, ensuring improved medical support for the elderly population in the region.
