In a thrilling start to the North East Little Master Trophy, Sikkim’s Little Master team faced a crushing defeat at the hands of Tripura in their opening match.
Winning the toss, Sikkim opted to bowl first, giving Tripura the chance to set a challenging total. Tripura seized the opportunity with both hands, finishing their innings at an impressive 295 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 40 overs. The highlight of their innings was a stellar knock by Shresthangshu Deb, who scored an explosive 137 runs off 122 balls. Despite a spirited effort from Sikkim’s bowlers—each of the four taking a wicket—Tripura’s batsmen dominated the field, piling on the runs without much resistance.
In their chase, Sikkim’s batting lineup struggled to cope with Tripura’s disciplined bowling attack. Sikkim’s innings crumbled under pressure, and they were bowled out for a mere 87 runs in 26.5 overs, falling short by 207 runs. The bowling side from Tripura executed their plans perfectly, never letting Sikkim’s batsmen settle.
