Tripura contingent concludes Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme in Gangto

An interactive and valedictory session was held February 17 at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok, for the Tripura Contingent of the Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme. The session, chaired by Mr. Tushar G. Nikhare (IAS), District Collector of Gangtok, marked the successful culmination of the five-day programme.

The session was graced by dignitaries including ADC Gangtok Mr. Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, SDM HQ Mr. G.L. Meena (IAS), SDM Gangtok, and Mr. Mahendra Chettri. The Tripura contingent, consisting of 27 participants, had arrived in Gangtok on February 14 to take part in the event organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Gangtok.

A key discussion during the interaction was the concern raised by the District Collector regarding the growing issue of drug addiction among youth in both Sikkim and Tripura. Economic prospects of both states were also deliberated upon, highlighting the importance of fostering youth engagement and leadership. Participants praised the cleanliness of Sikkim and expressed their commitment to promoting these positive practices upon returning to Tripura. The need for greater volunteering activities to tackle youth depression and boost motivation was also emphasized.

The participants presented a folk song by Lalon Fakir as part of the cultural exchange. Other pertinent topics such as water conservation, sustainable development, youth leadership, community development, climate change, and cleanliness were also discussed.
