The Gangtok Traffic Police carried out a checking drive at the DPH area this afternoon. The action came in response to a complaint received by the authorities regarding the increasing number of vehicles being parked illegally in the area.
As part of the drive, a total of 28 vehicles and two-wheelers were found violating parking norms and were challaned on the spot. The violators were also given stern warnings and advised not to park in the no-parking zones in the future.
According to traffic officials, the drive was aimed at reminding citizens about the importance of following traffic rules and avoiding parking in areas that are clearly marked as restricted. These violations, though seemingly minor, often lead to serious congestion, especially during peak hours. The DPH area, being a busy part of the town, has been facing regular traffic snarls due to such illegal parking practices.
