Superintendent of Police, Mangan district, Sonam Detchu Bhutia, has clarified that the district remains open and accessible despite recent road damages caused by continuous rainfall. In a detailed video message, SP Bhutia outlined measures taken to regulate traffic and ensure the safety and convenience of the public and tourists.
He stated that the Public Works Department (PWD) and National Highway Division, along with contractors such as Graves, are working round the clock to restore affected road stretches, including key points like 107, 86, and 87. While certain sections such as the Tungnaga and Bidambara routes have been temporarily regulated due to ongoing construction and poor road conditions, alternative routes have been arranged.
SP Bhutia confirmed that from January onwards, specific time-bound traffic regulations were implemented around Jema 2 due to the construction of a permanent bridge by the concerned contractor. Additionally, for roads between Fidang and Chungthang, heavy vehicle movement is permitted from 9 AM to 1 PM and 5 AM to 11 PM respectively.
For areas like Tumnaga, the road is open for small vehicles between 4 AM to 8 AM, subject to weather and road conditions. He urged all stakeholders, including tourists and transport operators, to adhere to traffic guidelines posted on the government’s official web portal and cooperate with authorities to maintain smooth passage.
