Traffic halted on NH-10 between Sevoke and Chitrey from August 3 to 6 for safety reasons

The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) has announced a complete closure of vehicular movement on a major stretch of National Highway-10 (NH-10), from Coronation Bridge (Km 0.0) to Chitrey (Km 30.0), starting 8 PM on August 3, 2025. The traffic suspension will remain in effect until 6 PM on August 6, 2025.

This temporary shutdown has been ordered under Section 33 of the Control of National Highway (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002, following a detailed safety assessment by the NHIDCL. The highway stretch, which plays a vital role in connecting Sevoke to Rangpo (Km 52.1) is known for its strategic importance and heavy vehicular flow, especially for trade and tourism between West Bengal and Sikkim.
