Sikkim Police has won accolades from Mahabahu Nayak, a tourist from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, for successfully recovering his stolen mobile phone in Gangtok. The device had been snatched by an unidentified individual at MG Market, a popular tourist hub in the capital city.

The incident was officially reported under General Diary (GD) entry No. 48/02.04.2025 at 9:40 PM on April 2, 2025, at Sadar Police Station. Thanks to swift response and effective tracking efforts by the police, Nayak was notified of the successful recovery on April 10, with a confirmation message reading “got the phone,” accompanied by an image under Request ID: 202504070216208228.

Nayak expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sikkim Police, particularly acknowledging LNK Namrata Sewa of the Tracking Department, Sadar Police Station. He lauded her for her empathy, consistent communication, and dedicated follow-up throughout the ordeal. “Reliability is a trait that is often underestimated but highly valued. Namrata Sewa went above and beyond to assist a tourist in an unfamiliar place, offering assurance, empathy, and exceptional service,” Nayak stated.

He also extended appreciation to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar Police Station, PI Niraj Khatiwara, for his leadership and support in coordinating the recovery. “Your attention to detail, dedication, and commitment to excellence were instrumental in this success,” he remarked.
