A woman tourist from Kolkata, identified as 38-year-old Shravanti Dutta Roy, tragically passed away on Wednesday afternoon while vacationing in West Sikkim. The incident occurred near the High Water Garden area close to Dentam as she and her husband were travelling from Pelling towards Kaluk.

According to initial reports, the couple had stopped briefly at the scenic spot when Shravanti suddenly collapsed between 3 and 4 PM. Locals present at the scene quickly alerted authorities, and she was rushed to the nearby Dentam Primary Health Centre. Despite efforts by medical personnel, she could not be revived.

The sudden nature of her collapse left many shocked. Local officials confirmed that no signs of injury were visible and that a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary indications suggest a possible cardiac arrest, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

Officials from the Dentam Sub-Tourism Information Centre reached the health centre soon after the incident and extended all possible assistance to the grieving husband, Sushital Roy. Sources said the local administration is coordinating with the couple’s family members and the West Bengal government to facilitate the return of the body.
