Tshering T. Bhutia, Tourism Minister of Sikkim met with young entrepreneur Zigmee Gurung from Dentam Constituency. The Minister praised Gurung’s hard work and innovative ideas that are helping promote Sikkim’s rich culture and natural beauty through tourism.
Zigmee Gurung, with support from his associate Daniel Lepcha, has successfully started a hotel and travel agency that is already gaining attention from both Indian and international visitors. His work is not only promoting the state’s scenic locations but is also helping create jobs and boost the local economy.
Taking a step further, Gurung recently launched a unique business under the name The Home Kitchen (Hotel Lumsey Inn), which is a part of YARA SERVICES. This new venture offers traditionally wood-smoked frozen meats, bringing forward the region’s indigenous food culture. The official launch of the product was done by the Tourism Minister himself, showing the government’s strong support for businesses that are rooted in local traditions.
The Minister appreciated Gurung’s efforts and said that such businesses set a good example for other young people in the state. “This is a proud moment for Sikkim. When our youth take charge and use their ideas to promote tourism and preserve our culture, it shows the real strength of our state,” he said during the meeting.
