Three youths killed in road accident near Dalep in Namchi

A road accident took place near Dalep in Namchi district, Sikkim, early on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of three young men. The incident happened near Izamkholsa Pairo, close to Ziro Fatak along the Bermiok-Thangsing road. According to the police, the vehicle, a Bolero Camper bearing registration number SK08P-0149, lost control and fell about 200 feet down the hillside.

The written complaint (FIR) was filed by Durga Prasad Sharma, a resident of Dalep Reshep, who informed the authorities about the incident. As per the FIR, the accident was reported around 9:45 AM on June 26. The local police and rescue team quickly rushed to the scene and began the search and recovery operation.

All three occupants of the vehicle died on the spot due to the impact of the fall. After a difficult recovery operation along the steep cliff, the bodies of the victims were retrieved and taken to the District Hospital in Singtam for autopsy. The deceased were identified as Abhishek Chettri, 27, son of Kishore Chettri of Dalep, who was also the driver of the vehicle; Bishnu Chettri, 22, also son of Kishore Chettri and resident of Dalep; and Sarukh Gurung, 20, son of Sachen Gurung of Munshigaon, Moonda Kotee Tea Gardens, Sonada, Darjeeling, West Bengal.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 06/2025, dated June 26, 2025, under Section 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), read with Section 184 of the Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. So far, there have been no arrests, and no one has been taken into custody.
