Three Sikkim Police Officers inducted into IPS cadre

The notification, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on December 17, 2024, confirmed their induction following the due process of promotion and recruitment.

Three distinguished police officers from the state have been inducted into the prestigious Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. Shammi Rai, Kunzang Dorjee Sangderpa and Paljor Wangyal Shenga, all senior officers in the Sikkim Police have been selected to join the IPS as part of the 2023 Select List.

The notification, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on December 17, 2024, confirmed their induction following the due process of promotion and recruitment. As per the Indian Police Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, and the Indian Police Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, these officers will remain on probation for one year and will undergo mandatory induction training as per the rules.

The three officers, whose contributions to Sikkim’s law enforcement have been recognized, will now serve under the Sikkim Cadre.

Shammi Rai, born on October 5, 1970, Kunzang Dorjee Sangderpa, born on June 28, 1967 and Paljor Wangyal Shenga, born on April 14, 1968, have proven their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of citizens throughout their careers.

The Sikkim government along with the Ministry of Home Affairs will ensure that these officers are well-equipped to take on the responsibilities and challenges that come with their new roles in the Indian Police Service.
