Swachhata Hi Seva-2023 programme apprised to CM

The Officials of the Rural Development Department and Urban Development Department led by Venerable Sonam Lama, Hon’ble Minister, Rural
Development Department called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) at his Official residence, Mingtokgang to apprise him on the progress of the activities under Swachhata Hi Seva-2023 (SHS) fortnight in the State which began on 15th September, 2023 & will culminate on 2nd October, 2023.
The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, D.Anandan accompanied by the Secretary-RDD, Tshewang Gyachho, Secretary-UDD, Mingma T. Sherpa, Principal Chief Engineer-RDD, Sanjeev Rai, MissionDirector(SBM-Grameen),Smt. Benu Gurung, Chief Engineer-RDD, Rajeev Subba; Director(Panchayat),Tenzing Denzongpa; Mission Director(SBM-Urban),
Jigme Wangchuk Bhutia and Additional Secretary-UDD, Hemant Rai were present in the meeting. The Hon’ble Minister, Rural Development Department, Venerable Sonam Lama informed the Chief Minister on the activities being conducted all across the State on the occasion of SHS.
The Chief Minister appealed the youth and citizens of Sikkim, the Zilla and Gram
Panchayats, the Municipal Bodies, State and Central Government Departments, NGOs, SHGs, Schools and others to come forward for the “Shramdaan”, the voluntary service to clean high footfall public places like taxi and bus stands, public toilets, cantonment boards, tourist places,
zoos, national parks & sanctuaries, historical monuments, heritage sites, river fronts, ghats, drains , schools , aganwadis , PHC, CHC, PHSC, legacy wastes and other public places in both rural & urban areas of the State. He has further appealed for IEC campaigns to encourage alternatives to Single Use Plastic (SUP).
Theme of SHS-2023 is 'Garbage Free India' with focus on visual cleanliness and welfare of SafaiMitras and other sanitation workers. He appealed all the citizens to show respect and appreciation to the sanitation workers who work tirelessly to keep Sikkim clean and disease free.
The Chief Minister appealed one and all to come forward to offer their voluntary services to clean the public places on 1st October,2023 at 10 am for one hour to support the mass cleanliness and shramdaan which will be participated by the Chief Minister himself.
The Swachhata Hi Seva is a yearly cleanliness campaign for a fortnight from 15th September,2023 to 2nd October,2023 aimed at creating massive shramdaan under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
