SVTTA gears up for grand table tennis championship to celebrate Sikkim’s 50th statehood anniversary

As Sikkim steps into the 50th year of its statehood, the Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association (SVTTA) is all set to mark the golden jubilee with a major sporting event. The association will host the Sikkim Veterans, Open and Under UTT Under 15 & Under 17 Table Tennis Championship on 28 and 29 June 2025 at the Indoor Hall of Paljor Stadium, Gangtok.

This championship is not just another tournament—it is being organized as a grand celebration of “Sunaolo, Samriddha, Samartha Sikkim,” which translates to a “Golden, Prosperous and Capable Sikkim.” The event aims to bring together players of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate unity through sports and to honor five decades of Sikkim’s journey as a state of India.

The championship features a wide range of competitive categories, with events open to veterans, teachers, open-level players, and youth. The categories are as follows:

Veteran 40+ Men & Women – Singles & Doubles

Veteran 50+ Men & Women – Singles & Doubles

Veteran 65+ Men & Women – Singles & Doubles

Veterans Mixed Doubles

Teachers’ Category – Singles & Doubles

Open Category – Men & Women – Singles & Doubles

Under 17 – Boys & Girls – Singles & Doubles

Under 15 – Boys & Girls – Singles & Doubles

The SVTTA has laid out clear guidelines for participation. Players in the Veterans Category are allowed to enter up to five events, with an entry fee of Rs. 2000. For the Open and Teachers' Categories, the fee is Rs. 500, while the Under-17 and Under-15 players are to pay only Rs. 300.
