Director Sujoy Ghosh has reportedly stepped away from his role in directing Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film King, with Siddharth Anand now set to helm the project. The film, a crime drama, was originally developed by Ghosh for Khan but will now see Anand, known for Pathaan, take the reins. King is set to feature Shah Rukh Khan in a role suited to his age, along with the theatrical debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan, and actors Abhay Verma and Abhishek Bachchan.

Amid these changes, rumors have emerged suggesting that Ghosh is now focusing on developing a thriller with actor Shahid Kapoor. Sources indicated that Kapoor had shown interest in the script previously, but the timing was not right. Both Ghosh and Kapoor are reportedly working to align their schedules for the project. However, Kapoor's team has denied these rumors, refuting any claims of a collaboration with Ghosh.

As for King, the film is slated for a 2026 Eid release and could potentially clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War, further intensifying the buzz surrounding both projects.
