SSB Yuksum holds cleanliness drive at Pelling monastery under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat campaign

The 72nd Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Yuksum, organized a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Sang Ngag Choeling Monastery in Pelling today. The event was held under the banner of the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” campaign.

The Sang Ngag Choeling Monastery, located near the famous 137-feet high Chenrezig statue, is one of the most visited religious and tourist sites in Sikkim. It also houses India’s first glass skywalk, attracting thousands of tourists from across the country and abroad every year.

Personnel of the 72nd Battalion SSB, along with local citizens, came together to clean the monastery grounds and the nearby tourist area. The activity included sweeping, collecting garbage, and restoring cleanliness to the entire premises. Participants also spread awareness about the importance of keeping public places clean.

The event not only focused on physical cleanliness but also conveyed a larger message about civic responsibility and community participation. Through their actions, the SSB personnel and volunteers encouraged visitors and locals alike to keep heritage sites and tourist spots clean and well-maintained.
