The much-anticipated rematch between Singling SC and Thunderbolt North United in the opening game of Sikkim Premier League (SPL) Season 3 ended in a 1-1 draw at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi, extending Thunderbolt's winless streak against their familiar rivals.

The clash, a repeat of last season’s final, lived up to its billing as both sides played with intensity and attacking flair. Singling SC drew first blood early in the 14th minute, with Brazilian forward John Kennedy scoring on debut. However, Thunderbolt quickly responded when Sameer Pradhan, a former Singling player, equalized through a well-placed free-kick in the 29th minute.

Both teams traded chances for the rest of the match, with Singling exploiting Thunderbolt’s high defensive line through quick counterattacks. Thunderbolt’s goalkeeper Pranup Subba was called into action several times, playing a crucial role in keeping the score level. Controversy stirred when Singling's appeals for penalties were dismissed by the referee, prompting criticism from head coach Pintso Sherpa.
