SKM Student Wing engages with SIST, plans ‘Meet and Greet’ for drug-free Sikkim

The SKM Student Wing recently held a meeting with representatives from the Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) in Chisopani, as per the directives of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). The meeting was led by SKM Student Wing President Wangchuk Lepcha, along with Secretary Tirtha Sharma, Vice Convenor Dawa Namgyal Bhutia, and Executive Member Phungwan Subba.
During the discussion, it was revealed that SIST currently has 307 students pursuing B.Tech degrees in various engineering streams. The student representatives shared their experiences and discussed academic as well as student welfare concerns with the SKM Student Wing leaders.
As part of its ongoing initiatives, the SKM Student Wing announced plans to organize a "Meet and Greet" program, which will bring together Student Representative Council (SRC) members from all government colleges in Sikkim. The program aims to enhance student engagement and strengthen the student community across institutions.
The initiative is aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of a “Nasha Mukt Sikkim” (Drug-Free Sikkim). The Student Wing emphasized the importance of youth participation in promoting a drug-free society and assured continuous efforts to support students in education and well-being.
