Sikkim's West Point Sr. Secondary School Girls’ Brass Band makes history at Republic Day parade

The Government West Point Senior Secondary School Girls' Brass Band etched its name in history with a spectacular performance at the Republic Day celebrations held at Vijay Chowk today. As part of India's 75th Republic Day commemoration, the band delivered a soul-stirring musical presentation that resonated with soldiers, dignitaries, and guests, epitomizing harmony and excellence.
The young musicians recently secured the title of Girls' Brass Band National Champions at the All-India School Band Competition, held at the National Stadium in New Delhi. This prestigious win, coupled with their awe-inspiring performance at Vijay Chowk, has solidified their position as a symbol of talent and dedication on the national stage.
The band's success was made possible by the unwavering support of Honourable Chief Minister Shri P. S. Golay Tamang. His encouragement and guidance have been instrumental in the group’s achievements, inspiring them to reach new heights. The Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education, and the Education Department of the Government of Sikkim also played key roles in enabling the band to participate in this historic event, showcasing the power of collaboration and vision.
Behind the band’s accomplishments is the steadfast leadership of Principal Shri J. N. Bhattarai and the dynamic mentorship of Band Instructor Mr. Nitesh Thapa. Their tireless efforts were complemented by the invaluable support of Mr. Kishan Tamang and Mr. Deepak Dhakal, whose dedication ensured the band’s success.
