Sikkim’s Old Silk Route wins ‘Most Scenic Route in India’ Award

The Old Silk Route in Zuluk has been honored with the title of ‘Most Scenic Route in India’ at the India Today Tourism Survey and Awards 2025. The announcement was made by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, who hailed the recognition as a testament to the state's breathtaking landscapes, rich heritage, and sustainable tourism efforts.

Extending his congratulations to the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, CM Tamang expressed gratitude to India Today for the honor. He also acknowledged the contributions of Tourism Minister Tshering T. Bhutia and Principal Secretary C.S. Rao (IFS), who represented Sikkim at the awards ceremony in New Delhi.

“This achievement reinforces Sikkim’s place as a top travel destination, and we remain dedicated to preserving the beauty and legacy of the historic Silk Route,” said Tamang, inviting travelers to explore the wonders of Zuluk.

The Old Silk Route, once a crucial trade link between India and Tibet, is now a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors with its pristine landscapes, high-altitude passes, and unique cultural heritage.
