Sikkim’s Dance Mantra Academy showcases Hudkeli Nritya at Independence Day celebrations in Lucknow

The Dance Mantra Academy of Singtam brought the vibrant traditions of the state to the national stage by performing the Hudkeli Nritya during the 79th Independence Day celebrations in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The troupe, representing the Khas community’s traditional art form, captivated the audience with their graceful movements, rhythmic coordination, and colourful attire. The Hudkeli Nritya, a dance deeply rooted in Sikkim’s cultural identity, was presented with authenticity and passion, leaving a lasting impression on the spectators.
The performance not only highlighted Sikkim’s cultural richness but also symbolised the spirit of unity in diversity, showcasing how regional traditions can find space in national celebrations.
In recognition of their exceptional presentation, the artists of Dance Mantra Academy were felicitated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence. The Chief Minister interacted warmly with the performers, appreciating their effort to bring Sikkim’s cultural heritage to a larger platform. He lauded the academy for promoting traditional art forms beyond regional boundaries, saying that such initiatives strengthen India’s cultural unity.
