In a major step toward expanding its reach and making its presence felt at the national level, the Citizen Action Party–Sikkim (CAP-S) held its first-ever National Coordination Meeting in New Delhi on June 20. This meeting marked an important moment in the political journey of the party, as it became the first political party from Sikkim to organize an official meeting outside the state.
The meeting was led by CAP-S President Shri Ganesh K Rai, National Coordinator Shri Pobin Hang Subba, and Spokesperson Shri Mahesh Rai. Several other party supporters and members from different parts of the country were also present. The purpose of the meeting was to connect more effectively with Sikkimese citizens living outside the state, especially those who have moved out for education, jobs, healthcare, and public service.
Speaking at the event, National Coordinator Mr. Subba spoke about the need for proper national-level coordination. He said that many Sikkimese people face problems while staying outside their home state, and there is a growing need to raise such issues at the central level. He highlighted that CAP-S is already trying to bring attention to these matters by engaging with different ministries and central government departments. He also explained how the party is working to connect with students, professionals, and patients who travel outside Sikkim for their needs.
Party President Ganesh K Rai addressed the gathering and said that the difficulties faced by Sikkimese citizens outside the state are often ignored. He stressed that only clean and honest politics can bring lasting solutions. He encouraged party workers and supporters to keep reaching out to people and build a strong and active network across the country. He also talked about the need to stay united and work together for the benefit of all Sikkimese people, no matter where they live.
One of the most important outcomes of the meeting was the formation of the National Coordination Committee, which will now lead the party’s national outreach. Positions such as Secretary, Joint Secretary, Executive Members, and Advisors were assigned to various members, giving the committee a formal structure and direction.
The meeting was also seen as a sign that the Citizen Action Party–Sikkim is looking beyond state politics. It showed that the party wants to give a voice to Sikkimese citizens who are often left out of the political conversation simply because they live outside the state. The party leaders said that they would continue working to ensure that people living away from home still have their concerns addressed.
