Atiksha Pradhan, daughter of Binod Pradhan and Kamala Pradhan, hailing from Upper Martam in East Sikkim, has once again brought pride to the state. Atiksha, who trains at Pema's Gym, clinched two gold medals at the prestigious 3rd Eastern India Strengthlifting Championship held in Siliguri from April 25 to 27, 2025.
The event, which saw fierce competition from strengthlifters across 11 states, was a tough battle. However, Atiksha’s exceptional performance stood out as she dominated her category and triumphed over the competition. Her achievement of winning two gold medals shows how hard she has worked, how dedicated she is, and the great support she gets from her family and coaches.
Atiksha, who is 17 years old, is the youngest strengthlifter to win medals in this highly competitive event. Her victory has not only placed her among the top athletes in Eastern India but has also highlighted the emerging talent from Sikkim in strengthlifting sports.
Speaking about her victory, Atiksha said, “Many thanks to Coach Pema Sir and his support. Because of his support and my family's support, I was able to play in an international game today and even win a gold medal. I need his continued support like this in the future as well, along with my family's support. I am very happy to win this gold medal, and the credit goes to my family. I want to continue this game and make my village, state and India proud with my goals and achievements.”
