In a moment of immense pride for the state of Sikkim and the entire Northeast, Anamika Gurung from Guruthang Busty, Gyalshing district, has been invited by the Government of India as a Special Guest for the Independence Day 2025 celebrations in New Delhi. Adding to this honour, she has also been selected to attend the prestigious At-Home Reception hosted by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan, a rare opportunity reserved for only a few distinguished citizens from across the country.

Anamika’s journey to this national platform is a story of quiet work, unwavering commitment, and a deep sense of service. Representing Sikkim, she will be present at the Red Fort on August 15, witnessing the ceremonial flag hoisting and the Prime Minister’s address to the nation. Later in the day, she will join other select invitees at the At-Home Reception, where she will get the chance to meet President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and many other notable personalities.

Anamika has been recognised as a Young Changemaker through the MyBharat Kendra initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Though her name might not be widely known, her impact has been felt in the communities she has worked with. Her dedication to social causes, youth engagement, and quiet leadership has earned her this recognition.

Anamika said, “Even though my contributions as a Young Changemaker have never stood out as something big, I’ve always tried to give my best quietly, without seeking attention. But being called to the President’s At-Home Reception... it’s something I never imagined. I owe this to MyBharat Kendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and above all, to my parents for their values and support. This moment belongs to them.”
