Sikkim: Workshop on good governance practices held at DAC Gangtok

The District Administration Complex (DAC) Gangtok recently hosted a workshop focused on good governance practices and initiatives undertaken by the district administration. The event highlighted key developments aimed at enhancing transparency, service delivery, and citizen empowerment.
In his welcome address, Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, ADM Gangtok, emphasized the importance of good governance as a foundation for societal and state development. He outlined several notable initiatives launched by the administration, including the AMIN App, which ensures transparency in land revenue management, and the establishment of Aadhar enrollment centers at DAC and all Block Administrative Centers (BACs). Other significant initiatives include the online marriage registration portal for streamlined service delivery and the introduction of lactation rooms, branded as "Motherpod," to support working mothers. Additionally, the launch of a Citizen Charter has strengthened transparency and accountability in government services, reflecting DAC Gangtok's commitment to effective governance.
G L Meena, SDM HQ Gangtok, further detailed these initiatives, sharing insights on their implementation and the visible positive impact they have had on the district. He emphasized that these efforts were already improving public service efficiency in Gangtok.
Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Collector Gangtok, explained the Citizen Charter's role in empowering citizens, adhering to the AAA principles of governance: Accessible, Affordable, and Available. These principles, he said, are crucial in ensuring the effective delivery of public services.
District Collector cum Magistrate Tushar G. Nikhare, IAS, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made through these initiatives. He also outlined future projects in the pipeline, including the Token Management System and the Dhara Vikas project. He stressed that good governance is directly linked to public trust and praised the DAC staff for their successful implementation of these initiatives.
