The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Sikkim, has issued a public notice requesting prompt submission of death reports for beneficiaries availing pensions under various social welfare schemes. The notice aims to streamline the management of benefits under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and the State Innovative Scheme (SIS).
The schemes covered include:
- Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme
- Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme
- Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme
- Sikkim Unmarried Women Pension Scheme
- Chief Minister's State Disability Pension Scheme
The department said that in the event of a beneficiary’s demise, it is mandatory for family members or authorized representatives to submit a death report to the department's Head Office at Lumsey, Gangtok. This measure ensures accurate record-keeping and timely updates, avoiding potential delays in managing the benefits.
