The Sikkim Under-23 Women’s cricket team showcased a dominant all-round performance, securing a resounding 63-run victory against Arunachal Pradesh in the Women’s U23 T20 Trophy.
Batting first, Sikkim posted a competitive 89-3 in 20 overs, led by an unbeaten 53 from Nandika Kumari. Displaying remarkable composure, Nandika anchored the innings, crafting a patient half-century that included crucial partnerships with Yudenmit Lepcha (11) and Dikcha Gurung (17). Her knock was a departure from her usual aggressive style, demonstrating maturity and control as she batted through the innings.
In reply, Arunachal Pradesh crumbled under the relentless pressure of Sikkim’s bowling attack, managing only 26 runs in 18.5 overs. Leezamit Lepcha was the star of the show, delivering a devastating spell to claim four wickets for just three runs in 3.5 overs.
Leezamit set the tone early by dismissing opener Sardum in the first over and Takam Riniu shortly after, reducing Arunachal to 3-2. Deeya Gurung and Dikcha Gurung chipped in with three wickets between them before Priyanka and Leezamit returned to clean up the tail.
Arunachal had no answer to Sikkim’s disciplined bowling and fielding effort, as the match ended in a one-sided affair.
