Sikkim: Two drug peddlers nabbed at Melli check post with brown sugar and other substances

According to police sources, the duo was traveling from West Bengal to Melli on a scooty bearing registration number SK04PA0919 when they were intercepted by the police team. During the search, the police recovered 24.920 grams of brown sugar from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, a police team from Melli Police Station successfully apprehended two suspected drug peddlers at Melli Check Post. The accused have been identified as Rohit Pradhan from Sumbuk (Namchi) and Obed Lepcha from Gangtok.

According to police sources, the duo was traveling from West Bengal to Melli on a scooty bearing registration number SK04PA0919 when they were intercepted by the police team. During the search, the police recovered 24.920 grams of brown sugar from their possession. Along with the brown sugar, a small quantity of SP capsules and cough syrup was also found. These substances are commonly misused for illegal drug consumption.

Following the seizure, the police immediately registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA). The accused have been taken into custody and further investigations are underway to trace the source of the drugs and any possible links to a larger network.
