Sikkim: Two arrested in LifeLine Medico robbery case in Gangtok

The Sadar Police Station has made significant progress in the investigation of the LifeLine Medico robbery case, successfully apprehending two suspects and recovering the stolen money. The case, registered as Case No. 23/2025 on February 15, 2025, under Sections 331(3) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, involved a burglary at the well-known pharmacy located on MG Marg, Gangtok.
The robbery occurred in the early hours of February 15, when unidentified miscreants broke into LifeLine Medico between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM. They managed to escape with Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, including Rs 10 and Rs 20 coins. The theft was discovered later in the morning by the pharmacy’s owner, 68-year-old Niranjan Kr. Sarda, who immediately reported the incident to the Sadar Police Station.
Following the complaint, the police launched a thorough investigation. CCTV footage from the pharmacy and surrounding establishments was carefully analyzed to identify the culprits. Based on strong leads, the investigating team, led by Police Inspector Ongchyo Bhutia, along with Plain Cloth Duty Personnel, successfully tracked down and detained the two accused persons.
Apart from the arrests, the police also recovered the stolen money, ensuring that the culprits face legal consequences for their actions. The suspects are currently undergoing legal proceedings, and further investigations are being carried out to ascertain if they are linked to other similar incidents.
