The Transport Department of Sikkim has introduced a new initiative called “SARATHI of the Month” to encourage local taxi drivers to use the Sikkim Cab app for their rides. This initiative aims to promote digital booking services and improve the efficiency of transportation in the state.

The Sikkim Cab app was introduced to help passengers book taxis online easily. One of its key features is the “Sharing Basis” service, which allows passengers to book shared taxis on important routes, including Gangtok, Siliguri, Bagdogra, and New Jalpaiguri (NJP). With this initiative, the Transport Department hopes that more drivers will adopt the app, making taxi services in Sikkim more reliable and efficient.

For the month of February 2025, the Transport Department has recognized Shri Tahal Das Koirala as the “SARATHI of the Month” for completing the highest number of rides through the app. He will be honored during the upcoming “Sarathi Samman Diwas” celebration, where his contribution to the transport sector will be appreciated.

The “SARATHI of the Month” program is expected to motivate drivers to use the Sikkim Cab app more frequently. By doing so, the Transport Department hopes to make taxi services more organized, efficient, and passenger-friendly. This initiative is also expected to benefit both drivers and passengers, as online bookings reduce waiting time and ensure better service availability.
