Sikkim to honour outstanding educators with State Awards and Commendation Certificates 2025
The awards are set to be presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim during the Teachers’ Day Celebration at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, on September 5, 2025.

In a celebration of excellence in education, the Government of Sikkim has announced the names of teachers and school heads selected for the prestigious State Awards and Commendation Certificates for the year 2025. The awards are set to be presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim during the Teachers’ Day Celebration at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, on September 5, 2025.
This year, the recognition includes both State Awards and Commendation Certificates to honor the exceptional contributions of educators across various districts of Sikkim, including Gangtok, Pakyong, Gyalshing, Soreng, Mangan, and Namchi. Teachers from primary and secondary schools, as well as headmasters and headmistresses, have been selected for their dedication to nurturing students and promoting quality education.
Among the notable awardees for the State Award are Mr. Sonam Yongda Bhutia, Primary Teacher from Govt. Secondary School, Hathidunga (Soreng), Ms. Anita Rana, Primary Teacher from PM SHRI Govt. Girls’ Sr. Secondary School, Kyongsha (Gyalshing), and Mr. Nim Tshering Lepcha, Headmaster from Govt. Primary School, Mangbrue (Namchi). Educators specializing in Mathematics, Science, Arts, and Languages have also been recognized, reflecting the diversity of teaching excellence in the state.
The list of teachers receiving Commendation Certificates includes Ms. Bhimit Lepcha, Headmistress from Govt. Primary School, Lower Hathidunga (Soreng), Mr. Gyan Bahadur Chettri, Graduate Teacher from Govt. Secondary School, Melli (Gyalshing), and Ms. Mandira Kharel, Post Graduate Teacher (English) from PM SHRI Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Dikling (Pakyong), among several others. These commendations acknowledge educators who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment, innovation, and leadership in school management and student development.
A rehearsal for the Teachers’ Day celebration and award ceremony is scheduled for September 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Manan Kendra, Gangtok. All awardees, along with their respective district education officials, are expected to attend to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
