To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, the Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Disabilities Welfare Department organized a Special Plantation cum Review & Re-evaluation Program of Fruit Bearing Plant at Children's Park, Chakung, Soreng District. The event focused on environmental conservation while promoting the core values of the BBBP scheme.

The initiative aimed to expand green coverage by planting additional fruit-bearing trees and assessing the condition of those previously planted. A cleanliness drive was also conducted to maintain the sustainability of the plantation area and ensure the well-being of the existing plants. This step reinforces the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices in the region.

The program saw active participation from officials and staff of the HUB, Social Welfare Inspectors (SWI), Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), and Anganwadi Workers (AWW) from Soreng District. Their joint efforts contributed to the success of the event and highlighted the significance of ecological balance and biodiversity.

The plantation drive not only promoted sustainability but also underscored the role of fruit-bearing plants in enhancing local biodiversity and nutritional support. These trees will provide long-term benefits, including improving air quality and supporting local communities with fresh produce.

The BBBP initiative, launched to promote the education and empowerment of the girl child, aligns with such environmental efforts, reflecting a holistic approach toward a sustainable and equitable society. By integrating environmental sustainability with social welfare programs, the department emphasized the interconnection between a healthy environment and community well-being.
