Sikkim: Special Gram Sabha discusses GPDP for 2025-26 at Boomtar Salleybong

The 34 Boomtar Salleybong Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) held a Special Gram Sabha on the premises of Boomtar Primary School Ground, Tangshang Ward, to discuss the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the fiscal year 2025-26. The event, which aimed to engage the community in the planning process, was attended by the Hon'ble MLA of 11-Namchi Singithang, Shri Satish Chandra Rai, and presided over by Panchayat President, Smt. Nirmala Gajmer.
The proceedings began with a review of the previous year's activities and a financial summary presented by the Panchayat Sachiva. This was followed by the unveiling of the proposed Annual Plan for 2025-26 by the Chairman. The Zilla Panchayat representative also provided updates on ongoing and upcoming initiatives funded through the Zilla Panchayat scheme.
A key feature of the Sabha was an interactive session where community members actively engaged with Panchayat officials, fostering a transparent and collaborative environment. The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Namchi Block delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of grassroots participation in sustainable rural development.
In his address, Satish Chandra Rai commended the Panchayat's commitment to community welfare and its inclusive approach to governance. He emphasized that accountability, inclusivity, and participatory planning are essential for the success of development projects.
