Sikkim: SICUN and NCDFI conduct sensitisation and capacity building training for dairy cooperatives

The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) and the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) successfully conducted a three-day Sensitisation and Capacity Building Training Programme at SICUN, Assam Linzey, aimed at empowering dairy cooperatives across the country.

The first batch of the programme was held from February 8 to 10, 2025, and was inaugurated by SICUN Chairman Mangaljit Rai. The event was attended by Vice Chairman Purna Prasad Sharma, SICUN CEO Phadung Bhutia, senior NCDFI officials and 57 participants representing various dairy cooperatives.

The programme covered a wide range of topics, including Stress Management and Mental Health by Dr. Satish Rasaily, NCDFI e-Market by NCDFI officials, Sustainable Farming Marketing Practices by SIMFED’s Managing Director, and Organic Dairy Farming in Sikkim by Dr. T.B. Ghatani of the Sikkim Milk Union. A cultural event, certificate distribution, and a visit to Nathula Border marked the conclusion of the first batch.

The second batch, inaugurated on February 12, featured 41 participants and was graced by Sikkim Milk Union Chairman Yam Kumar Sharma, SICUN Chairman Mangaljit Rai, and CEO Phadung Bhutia. Presentations included sessions on artificial intelligence, blockchains, and cooperative development by Roshan Nair, COO of Neml.
