The Sikkim Sherpa Protection Board (SSPB) has condemned the alleged casteist and divisive remarks made by Samson Tamang against the Khas community and has urged the authorities to take immediate legal action against him.
In a statement, SSPB President Sonam Gyatso Sherpa expressed deep concern over the lack of prompt action from the authorities, stating that such divisive rhetoric threatens the social harmony of Sikkim.
The SSPB has put forward the following demands:
- Immediate legal action against Samson Tamang to ensure justice without delay.
- Strict administrative measures to prevent any further escalation of communal tensions.
- The board emphasized that Sikkim has always been a land of peaceful coexistence, and any attempts to create division must be dealt with firmly.
The SSPB reaffirmed its solidarity with the Khas Chettri Bahun community, recognizing their contributions to Sikkim’s history, culture, and progress. The board urged all communities to stand united against any attempts to sow discord.
"Our unity is our strength, and we must not allow any divisive agendas to disrupt the harmony of our state," the statement read.
