The construction of the permanent Sanklang bridge in Dzongu, which was damaged by a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), is expected to be completed by June 30, said Mangan Deputy Commissioner Anant Jain. The bridge is a vital link between Mangan and Dzongu, and its reconstruction will help restore smooth connectivity.
Officials have also put contingency plans in place to assist stranded tourists during emergencies, similar to the transshipment operations carried out in 2024. Footbridges at Sanklang and other key locations will be used for rescue and emergency operations if needed.
Authorities have assured that North Sikkim remains open to tourists via the Fidang-Dzongu route. While repair work is ongoing, efforts are being made to minimize disruptions for visitors.
