SIkkim: Samson Tamang arrested in Bodhgaya after 13-day manhunt

Samson Tamang was apprehended in Bodhgaya, Bihar, on Wednesday night after an intensive 13-day search operation led by SDPO Tashi Chopel Bhutia, in coordination with the Bihar Police from Gaya District. The arrest followed a complaint against Tamang for alleged hate remarks, sparking a determined manhunt by Sikkim Police.
A special team was formed for the operation, including Investigating Officer PI DP Limboo, PI Naresh Chhetri, SI Taman R. Gurung, and additional personnel. The team immediately proceeded to Siliguri to initiate the investigation, utilizing advanced technical surveillance and intelligence from multiple sources.
Over the next two weeks, officers carried out searches across several areas, including North Bengal, the Nepal border, Delhi, Kurseong, and Darjeeling. High-priority locations such as Naxalbari, Terai regions, Pani Tanki and Salugara were thoroughly examined for leads.
Technical inputs eventually indicated that Tamang was hiding in Bodhgaya. Acting on this crucial information, the team collaborated with Bihar Police and successfully arrested the accused.
Tamang is now in police custody, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
