The long-awaited road connectivity project from Lingdok 9th Mile to Tintek Dikchu has officially commenced, marking a major milestone in regional infrastructure development. Spearheaded by the Hon’ble Area MLA and Advisor, Shri Thenlay Tshering Bhutia, this initiative revives a project that had been delayed for decades, rekindling hopes for enhanced connectivity and economic growth.
A ceremonial event marked the beginning of the project, with the initiation of new meter cutting to connect the old road to Tintek Dikchu. The MLA was joined by Shri Lazong Bhutia, General Secretary of the Retired Employees’ Wings (State Level), engineers from the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) including the DE, AE, JE, and Supervisor, along with field staff from the Rural Development Department (RDD), contractors, and local residents who gathered to witness this historic moment.
“This project is not just about building a road; it is about building a future,” said Shri Thenlay Tshering Bhutia. “It will pave the way for improved access, enhanced tourism, and opportunities for the region’s educated youth.”
The road, once completed, is expected to significantly boost tourism by opening new travel routes to scenic areas, thereby promoting local businesses and generating employment. It will also provide much-needed relief to residents by improving accessibility and fostering better integration of remote communities into the broader economy.
