Sikkim: Rhenock block hosts International Women’s Day celebration

Rhenock Block celebrated International Women’s Day on February 19, 2025, at Rhenock Block Administrative Centre (BAC) in collaboration with SRLM Rhenock Block. The event was organized as part of the Sikkim Government’s directive to commemorate International Women’s Day on February 20.
Chief Guest Ranjana Baraily, Zilla Panchayat member from Bering-Sudunglakha, shared her inspiring journey as a woman leader, encouraging participants to pursue socio-economic empowerment with SRLM’s support.
Motivational speeches were delivered by Deputy Director (AH&VS) Prerna Baraily and Horticulture Development Officer (HDO) Keshari Sharma stating the significance of women’s empowerment. BDO Rhenock, Shanti Kumar Sharma, stressed that women’s upliftment is vital for societal progress.
Zilla Panchayat member Babita Gadaily urged participants to seize opportunities for self-reliance and personal development. Women from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) participated in competitions, and the best women entrepreneurs from each Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) were honored by the Chief Guest.
The program featured dance, singing, art, and craft competitions, along with poetry and essay writing events. Distinguished attendees included Zilla Panchayat member Mamta Pradhan (Aritar), Panchayat Presidents and members from all four GPUs, officers from various departments, and NGO representatives.
