The bust took place around 11 p.m. after a Wagon-R taxi, which had evaded a routine check at Rangpo Old Check Post, was stopped en route to Gangtok. The vehicle had two occupants:
Driver: Satyan Sunuwar (33), a resident of Rongo, Maidan Gaon, Darjeeling, currently living in Daragaon, Tadong.
Passenger: Pushpa Chettri (41), a resident of Lower MG Marg, Gangtok, currently residing in Sichey, Gangtok. She was traveling with her 2.5-year-old son.
During the search, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, officers uncovered 960 loose Spasmo-Proxyvon capsules. The capsules are classified as a banned substance under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA).
The seized drugs were promptly taken into custody, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of SADA. The police have intensified investigations to uncover the supply chain and any larger drug network linked to this haul.
