Sikkim prepares for International Women’s Day Celebration 2025

A coordination meeting for the upcoming International Women’s Day celebration 2025 was chaired by Krishna Kumari Rai, former MLA and spouse of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay. The event, scheduled for March 7-8 at Saramsha Garden, will be organized under the banner of "Sikkim Inspire," an initiative aimed at empowering women and youth through enhanced economic opportunities.
The meeting was attended by notable dignitaries, including Raj Kumari Thapa, Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA), Kala Rai, MLA and Advisor to the Rural Development Department, and Pamin Lepcha, MLA and Advisor to the Social Welfare and Women & Child Development Departments. Also present were Adhyakshas, Upa Adhyakshas, Chairpersons, the Deputy Mayor, former MLAs, and officials from various departments and Sikkim Inspire.
This year’s theme, “Reconnecting Our Mothers to Their Childhood Interests and Hobbies,” will offer women a platform to showcase talents through activities such as creative writing, arts and crafts, and talent shows at Block, District, and State levels. The initiative aims to support mothers in reigniting their passions and transforming them into livelihood opportunities.
Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the Sikkim government has consistently promoted women’s empowerment, ensuring their participation in various fields.
