In the wake of rising concerns over suspected terrorist activities and a spate of child abduction reports, the Sikkim Police have stepped up security and issued high alert orders across the state. While authorities have not confirmed any actual terrorist presence or abduction incidents, precautionary measures have been intensified to ensure public safety.
Police checkpoints at strategic locations, including Rangpo and Melli, have been reinforced, and officers have been instructed to remain vigilant for any suspicious activity. The alert comes after multiple reports from residents about unusual incidents in villages across Soreng and nearby districts.
One audio message circulating widely on social media describes a frightening encounter near Singyep School in Chumbung, Soreng. According to the message, an unknown person in a car attempted to lure a schoolgirl by claiming her father had sent them to pick her up. The brave student quickly ran to the main road, and the person in the car fled the scene. Authorities have indicated that similar suspected abduction attempts have been reported from several other villages.
Locals have been urged to remain cautious, avoid talking to strangers, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. The Sikkim Police have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard children and maintain law and order during this period of heightened alert. It has also been reported from many villages that one or two suspected abduction attempts have been reported by the public, further reinforcing the need for vigilance.
