The Sherathang Check Post Police Station in Gangtok district has issued an advisory to ensure safety and smooth travel during the anticipated snowfall season. The notice, aimed at drivers and other stakeholders, outlines important guidelines to protect tourists and maintain order in the region.
The police have made it mandatory for all vehicles to secure permits in advance. Vehicles are required to enter through the 3rd Mile Check Post by 10:30 AM and must exit the area by 5:00 PM to avoid any complications caused by changing weather conditions. To address emergencies, all vehicles must carry a shovel for clearing snow from roads.
Moreover, the advisory mandates that vehicles be equipped with tyre chains to provide better traction and prevent skidding on icy roads. This measure is expected to reduce accidents and ensure smoother travel during the snowfall. Drivers are also required to keep dustbins or trash bags in their vehicles, allowing passengers to dispose of waste responsibly while traveling.
The police have asked all stakeholders to comply with these measures, reiterating the importance of preparedness in dealing with unpredictable weather conditions
