Sikkim: Pema Choden Bhutia to receive prestigious National Sports Award

Honourable Area MLA and Advisor Thenlay Tshering Bhutia extended warm congratulations to Miss Pema Choden Bhutia, a resident of the 29th Kabilungchok Constituency, on behalf of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay. Bhutia, the daughter of Khenrab Tshering Bhutia and Smt. Tshering Doma Lepcha, has been selected for the prestigious Sports Award at the 29th National Sports Cultural Festival.
“This well-deserved recognition is a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and outstanding contributions to sports. May her achievements inspire many young talents to follow in her footsteps,” said Bhutia.
The award will be presented during the festival’s closing ceremony on February 23, 2025, at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir, Guwahati. The event will also commemorate the 110th Birth Anniversary of Premoda Kanta Sarma, a renowned freedom fighter and a pioneer of modern sports culture in Northeast India.
